*Overdue because I was going to make it a Voice but I couldn’t get the system I used to work. So just read it and hopefully you enjoyed it, I wrote it a Month ago 🙂 I may record it again at a later date*
The Call of Duty franchise is one of the biggest Video Game series in the Market. Call of Duty is the most popular game from this past decade and now finally after last year’s record breaking “Modern Warfare 2” its back with Call of Duty: Black Ops.
There are plenty of new things to do this time around in the world of war. Black Ops is based in the Cold War with prominent figures from that time including Fidel Castro, Robert McNamara and John F. Kennedy in the mix. The story this time around is a CIA Conspiracy Theory with the main character being Alex Mason (voiced by Sam Worthington) being ordered around by Chief Petty Officer Bowman (voiced by Ice Cube…of all people) in certain flashbacks as Alex Mason is strapped to a torture chair and keeps remembering random flashbacks in between 1961 to 1968. The Voice acting has an all star cast including the previous names as well as other like Gary Oldman who plays Sgt. Reznov, and Topher Grace who plays Special Agent Harris. The Story is epic and it keeps you in suspense the entire time. People have told me it’s very predictable. My honest opinion is that it draws you in with it’s beginning sequence and you continuously want to know what happens throughout the entire game.
Seriously though, you probably aren’t here to read about the Campaign. The Multiplayer is the most expansive and well put together experience since Call of Duty 4 and definitely the best in the entire Franchise. The new addition to this new game is CoD Points, Which you get after you do certain amounts of damage in a game. They come from getting kills, capturing flags, or getting objectives. How much you get depends on your ability as a CoD Player. Another way to boost your score is Contracts, which help you during the match by giving you certain objectives such as get 3 kills without dying, or for the hardcore players get 5 headshots without dying. The contracts are timed and depend on how good the player is and how fast he can achieve the objective. The CoD Points help you customize your entire experience whether it be buying an emblem and title and creating it yourself or buying all of the guns in your inventory. The huge point of multiplayer would have to be the Wager Matches. They’re matches where you can put up all of your CoD points against 5 other people and Wager your CoD Points. If you’re “in the money” (1st, 2nd or 3rd place) you gain points. If you are lower you are out of the money and don’t win any. There are four different wager matches, Sticks and Stones, Sharpshooter, One in the Chamber, and Gun Game. They are all great fun to have with friends and foes alike and they bring a new fresh idea to the game and keep it enjoyable. Just briefly I’d like to point out that the Zombie Mode is back and better than ever. This time around you’ve got plenty of places to go to, including the Pentagon, playing as John F. Kennedy, Richard Nixon, Fidel Castro, or Robert McNamara. JFK says his famous line. “Do not pray for easy lives. Pray to be stronger men.”
This game is the pinnacle of Call of Duty. The developer Treyarch did a fantastic job with this sequel to their earlier game World at War. I dare say that this game is easily one of the best games in 2010 and you will be playing it ever after Modern Warfare 3 or whatever else comes your way.
