Mass Effect 3 Review

The Final Countdown

Before you say anything. Yes. Yes it is. Mass Effect 3 is everything that you’ve ever asked for in a Mass Effect game and so much more. So many times in conversations with friends over the past year have I said that I am legitimately scared for Mass Effect 3. I was the guy who was shouting from the rooftops, “There is no way they can make a better game than Mass Effect 2!” But they did, and I am here humbled and astonished at what I have witnessed. The culmination of the most epic space drama I have ever been a part of.

Mass Effect 3 Impressions

Blades make everything better

In keeping with my talks about Mass Effect and badass-ness, last Tuesday the Mass Effect 3 demo (including early access to the multiplayer) came out. The characters, story, and gameplay have driven me to love this series…but I have to tell you I was a little nervous about the third installment coming into this review. The trailer shown to us at the VGA’s gave me nothing to go on but “hey look there’s a new dive mechanic like in Gears of War,” and it left me more than skeptical. I’d heard many people complaining that it was becoming more Third Person Shooter than Role Playing Game. I used to scoff at the nay sayers: It’s freakin’ BioWare, they have literally never made a bad game. They even made Sonic the freakin’ Hedgehog a good RPG. But there I was, still skeptical. So I waited for the download and then pressed Start… Continue reading

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Review

I’m just going to come right out and say it. I love Call of Duty. I come to this realization because for the longest time I just didn’t want to admit that I loved it. It felt taboo in a way. Most people who play Call of Duty truthfully know little to nothing when it comes to video games, and I guess that irritated me the most, but at the end of the day I can’t deny it any longer. It’s one of the most successful and highest grossing video game series of all time. People have picked their sides as to whether or not Call of Duty is a masterpiece, or a piece of camel poo. I, however, am here to review the new Call of Duty. This time around it’s Infinity Ward’s swan song Modern Warfare 3. It seemed this juggernaut of a series was left for dead after the drama with almost all of Infinity Ward’s head executives walking out after the vice president was led out by security and fired. So, with the help of Sledgehammer and Raven Software, did Infinity Ward stay down off their feet? Or did they rise like a phoenix from the ashes? Lets not waste anymore time, shall we?

Bastion Review

Look at that...view?

That’s right: Bastion. The game was a part of Xbox Live’s Summer of Play and received major critical acclaim. It caught my eye right around the time when I had just gotten my Xbox 360 back for its complex but somehow smooth Action RPG elements. The game especially stood out for its visual choices and its dramatic way of presenting the world, but enough about that. Let’s just dive right into Bastion.

Batman: Arkham City, or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love Riddler Trophies

Clearly a Logo made from the gods themselves

Once in a while, a game comes along and absolutely humbles you. It immerses you completely into that character you’re playing, that single avatar you control. As it just so happens, that avatar is (I’m) Batman. Let me take you back a bit before I go any further.

Thief’s Top 10 Most Anticipated Games (10-6)

It’s been quite a while since I’ve written anything around these parts, but with so many titles having been announced over the past year I thought it was the perfect time for a top ten list of anticipated games. It wasn’t easy to narrow down just what I’m excited to get my grubby little hands on. However, I want to lay out rules for this particular list, because sometimes dates get thrown around in the gaming industry like it’s nobodies business.

– The game has be to coming out within a years time

Around this time next year, the game should be out

– One game per franchise.

Without further adieu here are my Top 10 Most Anticipated Games:
